The visitor book, three editions
Counting visitors without following them home.
Most visitor counters pay for their numbers in surveillance — trailing people across the web to gather them. Flatlytics keeps the guest book without the shadowing: it notes who came and what they read, then lets them leave without a tail.
It has been rewritten three times over the years, each edition lighter and surer than the last, always guarding the same promise — once a visit is noted, it is never lost — and always insisting the charts be things an ordinary person can actually read.
What it does
- 01Honest visitor numbers without following anyone across the web
- 02A promise kept for three editions: once noted, a visit is never lost
- 03Charts a non-specialist can actually read

For the curious — the making of it
Three generations: Elixir/Phoenix (2022–2024) → a Hono/Bun experiment (2026) → a TypeScript monorepo now. A sub-3KB tracker → Cloudflare edge worker (write-ahead-log fallback) → queue → partitioned Postgres; a declarative dashboard builder.
- A tracker under 3KB
- "Once we receive an event, it's never lost" — a write-ahead-log fallback at the edge
- OKLCH tinted-neutral design, indigo kept to a tenth of any surface
